The RENASYS◊ GO system is an outpatient therapy device that helps promote healing by applying negative pressure to the wound site. Controlled pressure draws out excess fluid and protects the wound from outside contaminants to ultimately close the wound.
The RENASYS◊ GO system consists of a frosted canister, tubing, foam or gauze dressing and a clear film dressing. The dressing is applied to the wound site, covered with the clear film dressing and attached to the canister using the tubing. The device draws excess fluid from the wound into the canister while the clear film helps prevent bacteria from entering the dressing. The device also helps improve blood flow to the wound, which helps the wound to heal.
To achieve positive results, we recommend you stay on the therapy at all times as prescribed by your physician or healthcare provider.
The length of time the therapy takes to improve a wound is different for every patient. It will depend on the general condition, the size and type of wound you have and the treatment you have been prescribed.
When the device is turned on for the first time, you may feel a slight pulling or drawing sensation, but it is not usually painful. If you experience any pain, we recommend contacting your healthcare provider.
The dressings will shrink when the therapy is working, and the film dressing will look wrinkled and feel firm to the touch.
The dressings will usually need to be changed 2-3 times a week, but in some cases, it may be more often. It will depend on the size, type, drainage amount and position of the wound.
There may be slight discomfort during dressing application and removal depending on the type and position of the wound. Again, contact your healthcare provider if you experience any pain or discomfort.
The RENASYS◊ GO system is designed to fit over the shoulder so you can move around and go about your daily life—easily and comfortably. However, the amount of mobility will depend on the wound and recommendations provided by your healthcare provider.
